The

COACH’S

PRAYBOOK

Hi, I’m Kevin Vanderwal, and I wrote The Coach’s Praybook.

I’ve been a teacher and coach for over 15 years in the public school system and have always covered my students and players in prayer to some degree.

What our players are going through these days is different than we all grew up. This applies to a youth team, middle school, high school, college, and even professional. All athletes need their coaches praying for them.

Below is the message that started it all. I felt a nudge that morning to start a book like this and then received a message from a parent. Following that I opened a Google doc and just started writing.

From there I just decided to start writing the book and now here we are. I felt it on my heart to publish this book and now I feel I need to share it with those it may help.

The coaching journey can be a lonely island so I wanted to provide something that can help coaches with any team, any sport, any level.

What folks are saying about The Coach’s praybook

“This prayerbook provides a direct connection to the word of God as our young people find their own path to the lives they desire. We will be using the book for years to come in our program.”

If you’re a coach who takes the famous quote of Billy Graham to heart, believing that “a coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in a lifetime” then Kevin Vanderwal’s The Coach’s Praybook is for you.  Simple. Practical. Helpful. This little book will be a treasured resource for those who view coaching as a ministry. I can’t wait to get this book into the hands of my coaching staff, it will be a guide as we seek to care for the hearts and souls of the athletes entrusted to our care.

Head Coach, Sioux Falls Christian Cross Country and Track and Field

In the college basketball world, some might claim that Coach K, Tara VanDerveer, or John Wooden epitomize who is or was the ultimate coach. Other sports have a similar list of coaching greats. Through The Coach’s Praybook, Coach Kevin Vanderwal highlights who really has been, is, and will be our ultimate coach – our Heavenly Father. Through forty insightful daily devotions, coupled with pointed thought questions, Coach Kevin helps create a lasting and impactful framework for coaches, players, families, teams, administrators, staff, officials, and everyone associated with your sport of choice to be positively and prayerfully impacted. Thankfully, God will handle the rest. I’m looking forward to bringing The Coach’s Praybook alongside my coaching efforts in this upcoming season and beyond!
